The 2023 African Cup of Nations in 2024 is heading into business after a scintillating round of 16 that saw further upsets, including the departure of Cameroon and defending champions Senegal.
The teams that made it through a round of 16 include Nigeria, Angola, DR Congo, Guinea, South Africa, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mali.
According to the organisers of the AFCON tournament, from February 2–3, 2024, the remaining eight teams will face each other to determine which four teams will qualify for the semi-finals.
The complete quarter-final schedule released by CAF indicates that Nigeria will battle with Angola at Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
Others include DR Congo versus Guinea at Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan, on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 8:00 p.m.
On Saturday, February 3, 2024, Mali will battle Côte d’Ivoire at Stade de la Paix, Bouake, at 5:00 p.m. and Cape Verde versus South Africa at Charles Konan Banny Stadium, Yamoussouko, at 8:00 p.m.
The AFCON tournament commenced with 24 teams, which were trimmed to the last 16 in the group stages; those 16 were whittled down to eight teams.The eight will be whittled down to four, and two teams will be considered from the four to play in the AFCON finals in Cote d’Ivoire.
