NEC FC has officially appointed Badru Kaddu Mukasa as their new head coach, effective Thursday, 6th November, 2025, following the mutual termination of Hussein Mbalangu’s contract.
The announcement was made by the club on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, confirming the arrival of the former Express FC tactician.
“We are delighted to announce that Badru Kaddu Mukasa is joining the club as our head coach on Thursday, 6th November, 2025. Kaddu brings a wealth of experience, tactical expertise, and a proven winning mentality to our team. Welcome aboard, Coach KB!” the NEC FC statement read.
Kaddu joins NEC immediately after leading Express FC to a resounding 4–1 victory over Mbarara City FC, which turned out to be his final game in charge of the Red Eagles.
At Express, Kaddu rose through the ranks, first serving as assistant coach under Baker Mbowa in 2024 before taking over as interim manager in October that year. After an impressive unbeaten run of four matches, he was confirmed as full head coach and signed a two-year contract extension in August 2025.
His move to NEC marks a new chapter in his coaching journey, as he takes charge of a side currently ninth on the 16-team table with five points, following a narrow 1–0 win over Mbarara City FC last weekend.
Kaddu’s appointment comes just a day after NEC confirmed the departure of Hussein Mbalangu, whose contract was mutually terminated on Wednesday, 5th November, 2025.
In a statement posted on the club’s website, NEC announced;
“We have mutually agreed to part ways with Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu, effective immediately. Both parties have confirmed that no further liabilities or obligations will exist between them,” the statement read.
Mbalangu’s exit ends a challenging spell that began when he was suspended on 21st October, 2025, over alleged involvement with Ssaza team Ssingo in the Masaza Cup, a move the club described as a breach of professional conduct.
Despite the controversy, Mbalangu’s tenure featured significant highs, including guiding NEC to second place in their debut Uganda Premier League season and reaching the Uganda Cup final.
Kaddu’s first major test as NEC head coach will come this Saturday, 8th November, 2025 when his side hosts BUL FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. Supporters will be eager to see how the new coach reshapes the team’s fortunes as they aim to climb back up the table.
