Ndejje University has triumphed over Copper Belt University based in Zambia in a victory of 14-03 respectively in the ongoing Federation of African University Sports (FASU) 3×3 basketball challenge tournament at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus in South Africa.
In the 5th edition of basketball challenge, Uganda is represented by Wandegeya based Makerere University (Women) and Ndejje University (men).
According to the tournament fixtures, Ndejje and Makerere Universities are in pool B of the Federation of African University Sports 3X3 basketball men’s and women’s category respectively.
The two Ugandan teams are looking forward to qualifying for the 2023 International University Sports Federation (FISU) 3X3 basketball challenge which is set to take place in Tokyo, Japan in August 2023.
According to the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS), this is the 5th edition of FASU basketball tournament, where University basketball players from 12 African Universities are competing to be crowned African champions.
The tournament is held after every one year, and the last competition in 2021 was hosted in Nairobi Kenya where Ndejje University (men) finished 2nd while Makerere University (women) finished 3rd.
The first edition of Federation of African University Sports was hosted by Uganda at Makerere University in December 2015 where Ndejje University and Uganda Christian University won the men and women editions respectively.
