The National Council of Sports (NCS)-Uganda has withdrawn the certificate of recognition from the Uganda Netball Federation (UNF), a body that manages She Cranes.

In a letter dated October 25, 2023, titled “Withdrawal of certificate of recognition from Uganda Netball Federation”, the National Council of Sports says that the federation will no longer conduct any business related to the sport of netball on behalf of the government of Uganda.

In the letter, NCS cited persistent governance and leadership challenges that have engulfed the federation and failure by the UNF to follow the laws of Uganda and their statutes.

Among the reasons given by NCS, there was the failure of UNF to abide by their constitution to hold elections for the executive committee.

The UNF was also faulted for failing to resolve the governance and leadership challenges within the Uganda Netball Federation, contrary to Section 15(1)(f) of the National Sports Act, 2023.

The Uganda Netball Federation had recently managed the Uganda Netball team (She Cranes) to their best performance ever in the history of the sport when they finished 7th in the whole world and 1st on the continent as ranked in the last concluded Netball World Cup that happened in Cape Town, South Africa, in August 2023.
