The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has on Friday, June 2, 2023, gifted the Namugongo Catholic Shrine with gifts which included fruits, water, detergent, sugar, soap, among others.

The gifts were received by Rev. Fr. Vincent Lubega, the Rector at Namugongo Catholic Martyrs Shrine also doubling as the parish priest, prayed and blessed the gifts.

While speaking to our reporter, Patrick Etiang, the Senior Public Relations Officer at NWSC said that just like any other Christian, they thought of how best they can appreciate and give back to God.

“Others appreciate God either by singing, paying pilgrimage…we do things differently. We thought that having those tangible items would help to reduce on the church’s constraints in terms of resource mobilization,’’ Etiang said.

He added that the diocese that organized this year’s martyrs’ day celebrations came with over five thousand pilgrims including the choir of about one hundred people and the welfare of all the people is on the head of the organizers. Therefore, coming in as an organization to give a small token would not be bad.

“Thought that as an organization, it is always good to share the little that you have” Etiang added.

Etiang noted that, NWSC has Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) therefore looking at such gathering the demand for certain services like water is really high.

He said that whereas the water is not provided freely, the Corporation sends a team on ground to ensure that there is constant water supply.

Etiang said that a filtration equipment is also provided so that the water that is got from the lake is filtered to kill all the harmful bacteria, adding that, by the time the water gets to the taps, it is safe for people to consume.
