The National Standards Council (NSC) has appointed Daniel Nangalama as the Acting Executive Director of Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
This development was confirmed by UNBS, that released a statement stating that Nangalama had been appointed as the Acting Executive Director.
Daniel Nangalama has replaced David Livingstone Ebiru, who claimed to have bribed the UNBS board with Shs 100million, while appearing before COSASE.
According to UNBS, Nangalama has been serving at the Bureau as the Deputy Executive Director in charge of Management & Financial Services.
In the statement, UNBS assured Ugandans that it is committed to fulfilling its mandate.
“We are committed to developing, promoting, enforcing standards in protection of public health, safety and the environment against dangerous and sub-standard products,” UNBS noted.
David Livingstone Ebiru had been sent on a six month leave after confessing to bribing the board to avoid termination of his contract.
However, the Inspector General of Government (IGG) has ordered for Ebiru’s arrest following corruption and the bribery claims as well as for failing to heed the IGG’s summon last week over the same.
