Namasagali College Hails Museveni for Repatriating Fr. Grime’s Remains to Uganda for Burial

The alumni body of Namasagali College has applauded President Museveni for enabling the repatriation of Rev. Fr. Damian Grimes, mortal remains for a decent burial as stipulated in the funeral program released by the organizing committee together with Mill Hill Fathers.

According to Maureen Mwagale, chairperson of the Namasagali College Alumni Body, the former legendary head teacher of Namasagali College, Rev. Fr. Damnian Grimes, willed to be laid to rest in Uganda, the country where he delivered his service for over four decades.

“We the Alumni are grateful to HE President Museveni and the First Lady Janet Museveni, the Minister of Education, for enabling the repatriation of Fr. Grime’s remains to Uganda,” Mwagala said.

According to the organizing committee comprised of alumni of Namasagali College and Mill Hill fathers, the body of the late will arrive on Thursday, September 26, 2024. A requiem Mass officiated by Monsignor Kalumba and Fr. Male the Parish Priest, which will be held at Munyonyo Basilica starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, and on Saturday, September 28, 2024, a Funeral Mass presided over by Rt. Rev. Charles Martin Wamika, Bishop of Jinja Diocese, will be held at Namasagali College starting at 11:00 a.m. and internment to commence at 2 p.m.

Born on June 11, 1931, in Wakefield, England, Damian Grimes was ordained a priest in 1955. He arrived in Uganda four years later, initially teaching history at Namilyango College. In 1967, he was appointed headmaster at Namasagali College, where he dedicated over three decades to shaping young minds.
