The delayed construction works on Port Bell and Spring roads have continued to paralyze businesses in Nakawa Division.

Residents who operate businesses in the affected area claimed this has massively affected sales of their goods.

They argued has also escalated health issues for people who stay in the area due to heavy dust.

David Kitaka, a resident of the area, blamed the contractor for the delay in completing the work.

He questioned why the contractor has since abandoned the construction work on the two roads.

David Luyimbazi, the KCCA Deputy Director, says the construction works on these roads have stalled at 17%.

He adds that KCCA has intervened to ensure that the contractor is equipped with competent workers to work both day and night. Luyimbazi noted that this will quicken the construction process.

The dust caused by road construction in Port Bell and Springs Road has lasted for 7 months affecting both road users, the residents, and the businesses that are run around in the area.
