Naguru Hospital doctors and nurses have asked the government of Uganda to help clear the outstanding bill of Shs 1.3 billion, which has accumulated over the last 4 years.
According to Okodi Shillar, the Naguru hospital administrator, the hospital has spent one week without water.
“The hospital buys water from outside to fill the reserve tanks. Cleaners and patients are not allowed to use water from the reserve tanks, so they have to move outside the facility to buy water, which is a bit challenging,” she said.
However, according to the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Health, Emmanuel Ainebyona, a meeting was held between the Ministry of Finance and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), together with Prime Minister Robbinah Nabbanja, to resolve the water crisis.
Prime Minister Nabbanja assured Ugandans that a quick solution would be made very soon.
“I will work on the issues as soon as possible. I have summoned the people concerned to come up with a solution to help with the water crisis,” she said.
Okodi hopes that the Ministry of Finance and NWSC come up with a solution by the end of the week.
