Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja is on Friday, August 18, 2023, set to launch a nationwide campaign to mobilise farmers in increasing agricultural production and profitability.
According to Nabbanja, the launch at Kiryokya Primary School in Mityana district is aimed at mobilising farmers in the region with a purpose of increasing productivity and productivity the in agricultural invention.
“We welcome you to Kiryokya Primary School in Mityana district to launch a nationwide campaign today to mobilise farmers to increase agricultural production, productivity and profitability,” Nabbanja tweeted.
She added that many players in the agricultural sector including agro-input and agricultural machinery dealers, model farmers, and agro-processing specialists, have already set up exhibition stalls to showcase the latest technologies and products.
The Premier said that, after Mityana the team will move to Kasanda and Mubende on August 19, 2023, then to Kiboga and Kyankwanzi on August 20, 2023.
Nabbanja noted that, the drive is planned to facilitate the implementation of the President’s six policy proposals to develop the agricultural sector.
The six policy proposals include production, multiplication, distribution and certification of seeds and stocking materials, disease control, agricultural mechanisation and irrigation, farmer education and mobilisation, while partnering with big land owners and interventions in the fisheries sector.
