The Ministry of Internal Affairs has attributed Mzungu Boda’s abrupt departure to illegal work and inappropriate dealings during his stay in the country.

Reid Samuel James Armin, popularly known as Mzungu Boda, the foreign social media sensation from New Zealand, shocked his fans after he confirmed his untimely departure due to visa complications.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Simon Peter Mudenyi, during the weekly security briefing on November 18, 2024, at the police headquarters in Naguru, affirmed that he was indeed removed from Uganda.

This was after the police received several inquiries from individuals identifying themselves as fans of somebody popularly known as Mzungu boda asking whether he was deported from Uganda and the reasons for his deportation.

According to Mudenyi, Mzungu Boda was recently removed from Uganda for reasons based on working illegally on a visitor’s pass, prompting a directive for his immediate return to his home country of New Zealand.

“We did not deport this gentleman; we removed him,” he said.

Mudenyi added that the police questioned Mzungu Boda’s sanity relating to the videos exhibiting weird content, especially the one with underage children where he was seen drifting with crying children and putting the juveniles at risk.

However, Mudenyi clarified that deportation is ordered by the Minister of Internal Affairs or courts of law, and it prohibits an individual from returning to the country; however, for organized departures like that of Muzungu Boda, individuals can return once they meet the requirements.

“The Mzungu boda was merely removed because he was found working and running a charitable/non-government organization without a work permit. This formed the basis for his removal,“ he clarified.

With this kind of deportation, the New Zealander is in turn allowed to return to Uganda after acquiring a valid work permit according to the ministry’s laws, rules, and regulations.
