The Uganda National Treasury has reappointed John Musinguzi Rujoki as the Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for another term following his outstanding performance over the last four years.

This was confirmed by the Uganda Revenue Authority on Friday, March 15, 2024, on their official X page.

URA congratulated Commissioner General Musinguzi on his remarkable reappointment for another term as a team leader of the URA family.

“This momentous occasion reflects the unwavering trust and support extended by the President of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Hon. Matia Kasaija, Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, and the esteemed Board of the Uganda Revenue Authority. This collective endorsement underscores a unified commitment to our nation’s fiscal integrity and prosperity. Together, we embark on this continued journey with enthusiasm and a shared vision for a brighter, more prosperous Uganda,” reads the statement.

Musinguzi was first appointed as URA Commissioner General in March 2020. He succeeded Doris Akol, who had done an admirable job as URA Commissioner General for nearly five years.

Musinguzi, the Commissioner General (CG) of the Uganda Revenue Authority, has been recognised as Africa’s Patriotic Personality of the Year by the League of African Development Students (LEADS), a union body for African students.

For the last few years, URA, under Musinguzi’s stewardship, has registered great milestones. In July 2023, Musinguzi was awarded the prestigious ABETO Africa Award, a coveted recognition accorded to people who greatly impact their countries.

In December 2023, URA also scooped awards from the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), which recognized the tax collector for its transformative role in building Ugandan business.
