Legendary Ugandan musician Joseph Mayanja, widely known as ‘Jose Chameleon’, made a triumphant return to the country today, April 12, 2025, at around 11:00 AM after months of medical treatment in the United States.

Despite heavy rains, hundreds of devoted fans gathered along the roads, chanting his name and paralyzing traffic as they awaited their icon’s arrival.

Chameleon, accompanied by his father, Mr. Mayanja, made his way from the airport in a sleek black Cadillac.

The overwhelming crowd of supporters braved the downpour to catch a glimpse of the music legend, demonstrating their unwavering loyalty and admiration.

The singer has been battling health issues since last year thus flown to the U.S to receive specialized treatment for acute pancreatitis. His return marks a significant moment for both his career and his fans, who have been eagerly awaiting his recovery and comeback.

Jose Chameleon’s influence on Uganda’s music industry remains unmatched. Known for hits like Valu Valu and Wale Wale, he has been a cornerstone of East African music for decades. Today’s reception is a testament to his enduring legacy and the deep connection he shares with his fans.

He has returned when one his biggest fans and fellow musician, Ray G is on a campaign to raise 1 billion shillings from his fans as a token of appreciation for the great work Jose has done for the music industry in East Africa and Africa as a whole.
