Museveni’s Wealth Creation, PDM Assessment Tour of Busoga is Strategic and Timely

On Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will resume the wealth creation and the Parish Model Development assessment tour in the Busoga sub region.

Faruk Kirunda, the deputy presidential press secretary and also the special presidential assistant in charge of press and mobilization, has confirmed the resumption of the president’s wealth creation tour.

While in Busoga, President Museveni will visit three model farmers in Namutumba, Luuka, and Jinja districts on the first day, and on Thursday, January 23rd, the president will commission the Presidential Skilling Hub, address a public gathering at Lwanda Primary School, meet Busoga sub region leaders at Mayuge district headquarters, and later in the evening hold a live interaction with the media.

On Friday, Jan 24th, 2025, the President will commission the Abyssinia factory and address a public rally at Kamuli Youth Centre, Kamuli Municipality, and on Saturday, January 25th, he will commission the New Tembo Steel Factory in Iganga and address the Boda-Boda mega rally at Iganga High School.

The President’s tour will focus on the mindset change of local people in Busoga to ensure that they can join the money economy and improve livelihoods.

In his messages, delivered to other regions, President Museveni stressed the importance of shifting from traditional agriculture to commercial agriculture to boost food security and economic gains through crop production and livestock farming.

He believes that this can only be successfully implemented through the four-acre farming model, which can promote massive productions of products such as poultry, beef, fruits, and piggery, among others.

President Museveni is optimistic that many households can now join the money economy with the support of the Parish Development Model- PDM,

With the total population of 4,363,295, Busoga has a poverty rate of 33% and a worrying unemployment rate of 18.2% according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS).

Busoga sub region, which 12 districts, including Bugiri, Bugweri, Buyende, Iganga, Jinja, Jinja City, Kaliro, Kamuli, Luuka, Mayuge, Namayingo, and Namutumba.
