President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged opposition politicians to stop misleading the public with deceptive narratives and instead rally behind government programs aimed at improving household incomes, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM).

While addressing a public rally on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Kasokoso Village, Kireka Parish in Kiira Municipality, Wakiso District, the President criticized the opposition for what he called a “habitual tendency to tell lies” to ordinary citizens about land issues and government intentions.

“For them to say ‘elect us, we are going to fight for your land’ is a waste of time. They should not deceive you. If government wants to take land, it will take it. Before they talk about land, let them talk about the PDM money. That money has been coming,” President Museveni stated.
Earlier, the President toured the Kasokoso Ghetto Washing Bay and donated Shs10 million to support the expansion of the business. He also gave Shs30 million to the Kasokoso Bibanja Association and promised that the long-standing land dispute involving the community, National Housing, Police, and private individuals would be resolved within one and a half months.

In a subsequent meeting with local leaders from Greater Wakiso held at the district headquarters, President Museveni announced that government is considering the creation of a separate funding stream under PDM specifically for leaders. This, he said, would address growing concerns about leaders competing for funds meant for ordinary beneficiaries.
“Don’t compete with locals. Government will create a special fund within PDM for leaders. Leaders must focus on solving the people’s problems, not competing with them,” Museveni warned.

Responding to complaints that some PDM beneficiaries received only Shs500,000 instead of the expected Shs1 million, the President pledged to investigate the discrepancy.
“I will study the issue of the land and the PDM money. I am sending a team from the PDM Secretariat to find out why some beneficiaries received half of the expected amount,” he said.
President Museveni also pledged to extend Shs100 million to each SACCO for ghetto youth in all divisions within Wakiso District.
“I am going to add Shs100 million per division. But you, too, should vote for our NRM candidates who will keep reminding us and not come to fight the government,” he said.
President Museveni is on a week-long tour of the Greater Wakiso region to assess the progress of wealth creation programs including PDM, EMYOOGA, and other government-supported initiatives.
