Museveni, US Ambassador Discuss Ways to Support Uganda’s Dev’t

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Ambassador of the United States of America (USA) to Uganda William W. Popp, have discussed matters including regional peace, stability, socio-economic development, and the population census that will be tools in ensuring Uganda’s development and success.

This was confirmed in a statement released by the President’s Press Team on May 9, 2024.

President Museveni emphasized the need for regional peace to foster stability and security in the region.

“The President underscored the necessity of collaboration and cooperation among nations to address common challenges, promote stability, and ultimately ensure a peaceful environment for the well-being of all citizens,” the statement read in part.

Museveni also highlighted that conducting a comprehensive population census will significantly aid in the development of Uganda.

“It is crucial to provide data that will help in decision-making and effective governance,” the statement reads in part.

Ambassador Popp addressed avenues for socio-economic development and focused on strategies that can enhance Uganda’s growth and prosperity, as well as improve the long-standing relations between the two countries.

Popp also acknowledged President Museveni for his extensive knowledge and experience and the importance of their continued dialogue in fostering a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries.

In attendance were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Jeje Odongo; the Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth-Oboth; the Permanent Secretary-Ministry of Defense, Rosette Byengoma; and the Deputy Chief of Defense Forces, Lt. Gen. Samuel Okiding.
