President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met with the Lango Paramount Chief, Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune, and other clan leaders yesterday, 6th October 2025, at State House Entebbe. He encouraged them to lead economic development efforts in their communities.

During the meeting, President Museveni stressed the importance of modern agriculture as the key to wealth creation. He urged the people of Lango to choose profitable farming activities and use their land wisely.

“We need modern wealth based on money and proper land use. Families should choose the right farming enterprises,” he said.

“For example, with a little irrigation, you can earn Shs18 million per acre from coffee in a year. Fruits can bring in up to Shs30 million per acre,” he added.

The President also talked about better land management. He advised families and clans to fence their land to help with organized and productive farming.

“Once land is secured and fenced, we can plan for irrigation, fertilizers, and pasture development,” he said.

President Museveni called on cultural leaders to support education and health programs and work closely with the people to promote development. He also encouraged them to maintain peace and unity in their communities as a strong base for economic growth.

His Highness Odongo Okune thanked President Museveni for restoring peace and stability in the Lango sub-region. He remembered the difficult times of state violence, cattle rustling, and insurgencies in the 1970s and 1980s that had badly affected the region.

“Lango is grateful for the development programs and wealth creation efforts that have improved the lives of our people,” he said.

The meeting focused on agriculture, land use, and community-driven projects as key ways to create wealth and ensure long-term economic success for the people of Lango.
