President Yoweri Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, has announced new measures aimed at enhancing security, boosting wealth creation, and improving infrastructure in Kamwenge and Kyegegwa districts.
While campaigning in the two districts on Monday, December 8, 2025, Museveni endorsed a proposal by ICT Minister Hon. Frank Tumwebaze to establish a military battalion near Kibale National Park to reinforce the area’s security.

“I welcome Hon. Tumwebaze’s suggestion. Once land is identified, a battalion will be set up in that area,” the President said, emphasizing that peace is essential for protecting lives, property, and national progress.
Museveni outlined the government’s infrastructure achievements, noting improvements on the Lyantonde–Ibanda–Kamwenge road and the forest route, while committing to upgrade the Kihuura road.
He encouraged residents to adopt irrigation and engage in commercial farming to increase productivity and household income.

Museveni reiterated that agriculture, when approached as a business, benefits both families and the wider economy.
Touching on job creation, the President pointed to developments such as the Mbale Industrial Park and Namanve as examples of how individuals and private enterprises can generate employment.
He noted that Kibale Forest also offers significant tourism potential that can drive local job growth.
In Kyegegwa, the President was received by enthusiastic crowds who filled the district with colour and excitement.
Museveni used the platform to reaffirm the NRM’s commitment to peace, development, and wealth creation, and issued new directives to improve household incomes and accelerate government programs.
He highlighted gains in security, infrastructure, and job-related initiatives, assuring residents that these achievements will be expanded in the next term.
President Museveni is expected to continue his campaign trail in Kyenjojo on Tuesday before heading to Kibale district.
