National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged voters in Apac District to re-elect him in the 2026 general elections, pledging to deepen wealth creation, boost infrastructure development, and build on the peace and stability that Uganda has achieved under NRM leadership.
Addressing thousands of supporters at Apac Booma Grounds, Museveni said his government will not leave anyone behind in the money economy and will ensure that the remaining 33% of Ugandans outside it are included in the next phase of development.
“No one will be allowed to be a spectator in wealth creation without direct involvement. We have been clear on wealth creation since 1996, and with 67% of the population now in the money economy, the remaining 33% will not be left out,” Museveni said.

He revealed plans to enhance commercial agriculture programmes and demonstration farms in Apac District to support farmers and increase household incomes.
Museveni also commended residents for embracing the Parish Development Model (PDM) in which government has injected over UGX 16 billion and the Emyooga socioeconomic empowerment programme. He said government will introduce special funds to support jobless graduates and religious leaders.
Before Museveni’s address, senior NRM leaders from northern Uganda presented him to the electorate and outlined the party’s achievements.
NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda Dennis Hamson Obua highlighted key gains made under NRM leadership, including peace and security, wealth creation interventions, universal free education, improved roads, and better health services.
He called on voters to trust Museveni with another term to consolidate these achievements.
NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong echoed the message, outlining how NRM programmes have transformed Apac and urging residents to defend those gains by re-electing Museveni and other NRM candidates.
The party’s Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Anita Among, described Museveni as a leader of peace, unity, and development who accommodates all Ugandans, regardless of political background. She cited his appointment of relatives of former President Milton Obote and former opposition politicians to government positions as proof of his inclusive leadership.
Among also reminded residents of the insecurity and rebel activity that once plagued the area, saying it was the NRM that restored peace and stability.
Museveni assured the people of Apac that the NRM remains the only party with a national outlook and capacity to lead Uganda forward. He cited the government’s record in peacebuilding, development, wealth and job creation, and the establishment of a strong national governance structure as evidence of NRM’s capability.
He pledged to upgrade more health facilities, build schools, and improve road infrastructure in Apac during the next term to build on the progress already achieved.
Museveni also reaffirmed that Uganda’s oil resources, expected to start generating revenue next year, will be used to fund key development projects across the country.
“Our leadership plans remain on course. The historical mission we began 65 years ago to transform Uganda is still ongoing,” Museveni said.
Museveni concluded by urging voters in Apac to support the NRM at all levels in the 2026 elections to protect and advance the gains made over the past decades.
“The NRM government has delivered peace, security, development, and opportunities. We must now consolidate those achievements and build a future of shared prosperity,” he said.
