President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has tasked police detectives to ensure there is no crime so that people can produce goods and services for prosperity.

He made the pronouncement on Friday, August 4, 2023, at State House Entebbe while delivering a lecture of opportunity to several police detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID).

The officers have been undertaking a four-month refresher course at Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi district.

“I tasked them to ensure there is no crime so that people can produce goods and services for prosperity. When you get CID or police who are not doing their work, they are undermining our prosperity,” said President Museveni.

The President emphasised that strategic security is one of the goals of the National Resistance Movement revolution, adding that CID officers are essential to defending the populace from internal and external threats.

“Strategic security is among the missions of the NRM revolution, and CID officers should play a key role in protecting the people against internal and external threats,” he said.

He said that the country cannot be prosperous if it keeps experiencing cases of insecurity.
