President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has extended heartfelt salutations to Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, upon her re-election to a new term in office.
In a brief congratulatory message on his twitter handle @KagutaMuseveni, President Museveni commended President Suluhu and the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party for earning the trust of Tanzanians.
“This victory reflects the confidence that the people of Tanzania have in her leadership and vision,” President Museveni wrote.
The President reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Uganda and Tanzania share historic bonds of friendship and cooperation and President Museveni is looking forward to working with President Samia to further strengthen the two countries partnership in trade, infrastructure, and regional integration for the peace and prosperity of the peoples.
“I look forward to working with President Samia to further strengthen our partnership in trade, infrastructure, and regional integration for the peace and prosperity of our peoples,” President Museveni said.
Uganda and Tanzania continue to maintain strong bilateral relations, underpinned by joint projects such as the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) and cross border trade initiatives aimed at boosting regional development.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan made history in March 2021 when she became Tanzania’s first female President, following the passing of President John Pombe Magufuli. A seasoned politician and public administrator, she previously served as Vice President from 2015 to 2021. Her leadership has been marked by a commitment to economic reform, regional diplomacy, and inclusive governance.
Under her stewardship, Tanzania has continued to strengthen its regional and international partnerships, while pursuing policies aimed at boosting investment, empowering women, and advancing sustainable development.
President Museveni expressed confidence that President Samia’s re-election will usher in a new phase of cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania, further cementing their shared vision for peace, prosperity, and progress across East Africa.
