President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated the newly appointed District Kadhis of Namutumba and Bugweri, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting Muslim leaders in guiding their communities spiritually and socio-economically.
The message was delivered on Friday, 7th November, 2025, by the President’s Special Presidential Assistant for Press and Mobilization and Deputy Spokesperson, Haji Faruk Kirunda, during a special Busoga prayers event and the inauguration of the new Kadhis at Namalemba Seed School, Bugweri District.
“I want to congratulate Sheikh Faiswal Sowed Kakaire and Sheikh Zaidu Ramathan Wakibi on their appointments as District Kadhis,” Museveni said.
“Allah has entrusted you with the noble responsibility of offering spiritual guidance to the believers in your areas. I trust that He has prepared you to discharge your duties faithfully. Constantly seek wisdom and counsel from the Holy Quran to make the right decisions,” he added.
The President also praised Muslim leaders for supporting initiatives that promote household wealth creation and job opportunities.
“I applaud His Eminence Sheikh Ramathan Mubajje, the Mufti of Uganda, the Kadhis, and Imams for amplifying the NRM’s message on wealth and jobs creation at the community level,” he noted.
In response, Sheikh Mubajje praised the President for his continued support of Muslim programs, highlighting the socio-economic impact of government-backed initiatives.
“President Museveni has always stood with the Muslim community, supporting projects that transform lives. His acceptance to fund SACCOs for Imams and Sheikhs will empower religious leaders to serve their communities better,” he said.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Members of Parliament, Resident District Commissioners, and other religious leaders, who expressed gratitude to the government for its continued collaboration with the Muslim community.
On behalf of the Uganda Muslim Women Council, Hajjat Sofia Kenyangi Safina thanked the President for fulfilling his pledge of UGX 2 billion to support Muslim women SACCOs.
“This contribution will empower women to engage in productive activities, improve their livelihoods, and support their families,” she stated.
President Museveni emphasized that the government will continue supporting religious leaders, ensuring that spiritual guidance and socio-economic development go hand in hand.
The government remains committed to strengthening the role of religious leaders, ensuring that spiritual guidance is paired with programs that promote economic empowerment, community development, and improved livelihoods for all Ugandans.
