The Territorial Police in Kampala and Nagalama Division have arrested Wamala Hakim, a 41-year-old resident of Kalagi Village in Mukono District, on charges of incitement to violence and misuse of social media.

Wamala was arraigned on Thursday, 13th November, 2025, before Nakifuma Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The arrest follows a TikTok video he allegedly posted on November 9, 2025, through his account @hakiqualitypropertyandconstruction, in which he urged members of the public to engage in unlawful acts using pangas and spears.

Deputy Police spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire noted that the accused was formally charged and remanded pending further court mention.

The police reiterated that the misuse of social media to spread falsehoods or incite violence is a criminal offense under Ugandan law.

“The Uganda Police Force continues to monitor online activities and will take firm action against individuals who misuse digital spaces to threaten public peace and safety,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

This arrest is part of a broader police clampdown on social media abuse ahead of the 2026 general elections, as authorities seek to maintain public order and prevent online misinformation. Hakim’s case is set for further mention in the coming days.
