’’We have done some research on these individuals, and indeed they are part of the LGBTQ+ fraternity, so be cautious of such people because their intentions are not pure at all towards our church.’’

The Anglican Diocese of Mukono has warned its members, including the clergy and locals, about individuals masquerading as evangelists, human rights activists, or representatives of NGOs that help the needy but are instead part of the LGBTQ+ community attempting to spread their ideology in the diocese.

These remarks were made by the Mukono Diocesian Secretary, Rev. Canon John Sebudde, while at the burial ceremony in Lugasa village in Ngogwe sub-county, Buikwe district on June 25, 2024.

While addressing the mourners, Rev. Sebudde revealed that some of these individuals are from the United States and claim to be offering scholarships and other forms of assistance to the poor, but their true intention is to promote LGBTQ+ activities in the diocese.

Sebudde further urged the locals not to compromise their faith or beliefs in exchange for these services or handouts, as it could lead to their children becoming indebted to these individuals and make it easier for the LGBTQ+ movement to spread throughout the country and the Mukono Anglican Diocese.

’’We have done some research on these individuals, and indeed they are part of the LGBTQ+ fraternity, so be cautious of such people because their intentions are not pure at all towards our church,’’ Sebudde said.

He instructed all clergy members not to allow anyone who is not from the Anglican dioceses of Mukono, Namirembe, Mityana, or Masaka to preach in their churches unless they have a letter of affirmation from the Bishop of Mukono.

Sebudde further called upon the locals to make sure their children do not go astray and be part of the LGBTQ+ fraternity in exchange for a fast life, as seen on different social media platforms, saying that the outcome will be bad.
