Mathias Mpuuga, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, has rallied Ugandans living in the Diaspora to hold onto their cultures and avoid being disunited.

Mpuuga made this statement on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, at the closure of the annual Uganda Kwekwaffe Business Forum in Edmonton, Canada.

He asked Ugandans in the diaspora not to abandon their cultures in favour of western cultures.

“Our diverse cultures should be part of unity, not division, and we should be united by our cultures and values,” Mpuuga said.

LoP Mpuuga advised them to often return home and invest in the country, adding that Uganda is blessed with natural resources and fresh water, among others.

“Our country’s politics cannot be corrected except with the involvement of everyone both within Uganda and outside the country,” Mpuuga added.

He urged that people put more emphasis on demanding feedback from their legislators on what is happening in their areas because politics is determined by their views.

The summit attracted various opposition stalwarts including Joyce Bagala, Muwada Nkunyingi, Hillary Kiyaga, and Kassim Ssali, the convener of Uganda Kwekwaffe Business Forum.
