The Kawempe North Member of Parliament (MP), Muhammed Ssegirinya has returned to Uganda after a month of undergoing treatment in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Ssegirinya returned on Tuesday, September 19, 2023,  after being discharged from Amsterdam Universitair Medische Centra Hospital, Netherlands, where he has been receiving specialised treatment since August after his health deteriorated following a stay in prison for over a year.

While speaking to journalists at Entebbe International Airport, he hinted at reports that claimed the party had neglected him and had failed to pay his hospital bills.

“Let me make this clear, my party is not supposed to pay for my bills. It is parliament that’s mandated to do that. Before, they had neglected me, but later, after pressure from my party and other MPs, they decided to finally pay my bills,” Ssegirinya said.

Ssegirinya thanked the NUP Party President, Robert Kyagulanyi, and other members of the diaspora plus Parliament for paying his medical bills amounting to Ugx 75 million and has indicated plans to join in NUP countrywide mobilization.
