The Moyo district local government has received Ugx126 million from the Ugandan government through the Ministry of Education and Sports as part of the School Facility Grant (SGF) for Primary Schools to aid with the construction of new infrastructure in the district’s schools.

The development was confirmed by Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, the Minister of State for Primary Education.

Kaducu said before the 2024 school year starts, the district is expected to give government-aided primary schools top priority in order to improve and make their learning environments more comfortable for students.

”Moyo district’s local government should sit down, make a plan, prioritize the needs of different schools in the district, and find out the schools that need to be innovated and those that need face lifts, so that learners can enjoy, study, and feel comfortable in a friendly school environment,’’ Dr. Kaducu noted.

In an effort to facilitate their children’s learning, Dr. Kaducu urged parents to purchase uniforms and other scholastic materials for their kids.

She also said that parents should take charge, take responsibility for their children’s meals, and fulfill their parental duties rather than waiting on the government.

The School Facilities Grant (SFG) for primary schools is a government project set up to assist the most needy school communities in completing unfinished classrooms and building new classrooms where these classrooms can achieve the following: Classroom: Pupil ratio of 1: 5.
