The Ministry of Health has on Thursday August 3, 2023, delivered 220 motorcycles and 445 laptops to 12 refugee hosting districts in a bid to enhance community surveillance and medicine management respectively.
The items were procured under the Uganda COVID-19 Response and Emergency Preparedness Project (UCREPP).
According to the Minister of Health, Jane Ruth Acheng, they handed over the motorcycles and laptops to Chief Administrative Officers of 12 refugee hosting districts.
“The 457 laptops are intended to enhance medicine management from the lower level of health care to the highest level of care as a contribution to enhance the health data digitalization agenda,” Acheng said.
She also appreciated World Bank for the financial support it rendered to the Ministry and for fronting the health service delivery.
According to Dr. Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry, the motorcycles will help in community sensitization, and not personal gains.
“These motorcycles should not be used for your reasons such as attending weddings, but rather improve on the service in the communities,” Atwine said.
This initiative will enhance surveillance activities in the refugee districts and also support Gender Based Violence victims.
