The Ministry of Health has confirmed an outbreak of cholera in Namayingo district with three cases that have been identified so far.
Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health confirmed the development, saying that the cases that have so far been identified are receiving treatment.
He urged members of the public to ensure proper hygiene in order to evade the contraction of cholera and other related diseases.
“I urge the public to maintain high level of hygiene to avoid contracting the disease,” he said.
The Deputy RDC of Namayingo, Solomon Baleke said that all victims identified so far are from Bumalenge villiage in Siguru islands.
Namayingo is among the several districts that have previously registered a number of cholera cases, which prompted the government to launch a vaccination campaign in 2018, targeting possible prone districts.
