Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has spoken about President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s health condition following his declaration of testing positive for COVID-19.

While speaking at the Ministry of Health Head Quarter on June 9, 2023, Dr. Aceng said that President Museveni is in good health and continues to carry out his obligations.

“Fellow Ugandans, I know that many questions have risen in regard to COVID-19, especially when His Excellency the President announced that he tested positive. Allow me to allay the anxiety of everyone by saying that the President is in good health and continues to carry on with his business”, Aceng said.

President Museveni is currently in self-isolation at Nakasero after he announced on June 7, 2023, during the State of the Nation Address that he tested positive for the virus.

“When I came back from Kololo, it was confirmed that I had Corona. I have therefore, self-isolated at Nakasero,” President Museveni tweeted.

Aceng has assured the public that COVID-19 is still in existence and is likely to exist for a long time.

She urged the public to continue observing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and embrace vaccination against the deadly disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that COVID-19 is no longer a public emergency but doesn’t rule out the disease, adding that caution should be taken where infections are ongoing.
