Bwizibwera Health Centre IV located in Rwanyamahembe Sub County, in Kashari County, Kashari South Constituency in Mbarara district is set to receive more health equipment to deliver quality heath services to the locals.

According to Hon. Magaret Ayebare Rwebyambu, the Woman Member of Parliament (MP) for Mbarara district, Bwizibwera Health Centre IV is yet to receive 40 mattresses which will be fixed on the 40 beds that the hospital recently received from government through her and other MPs.

“Together with other Members of Parliament, we brought in 40 patient beds but as a woman MP, I lobbied for 20 beds then each male MP delivered ten beds which were handed over to us by the government,” Ayebare said.

She further revealed that, the government has also given them 40 mattresses which she has already delivered to the district and yet to be distributed to the health facility where beds are.

As a Member of the Health Committee, Ayebare lobbied and delivered a brand new Complete Blood Count (CBC) machine on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, to save locals from moving long distances in search for the CBC services.

“I lobbied for that (CBC) machine from the Ministry of Health through the Commissioner of Maternal Health, since I knew that most locals from my area used to be referred to Mbarara which is about 20 kilometers from Bwizibwera to Mbarara to do tests. That is one of the reasons that compelled me to lobby for that machine,” she said.

According to Ayebare, CBC machine also known as a Full Blood Count (FBC), is a set of medical laboratory tests that provide information about the cells in a person’s blood. It indicates the counts of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.

Others include; the concentration of hemoglobin, the volume percentage of red blood cells, the red blood cell indices which indicate the average size and hemoglobin content of red blood cells.

MP Ayabare revealed that, the government has recruited other two professional medical doctors to close the gaps of human resource at the health centre.

“But we have put Bwizibwera at a level because we used to have one medical doctor but as I speak now, the government has given us more two doctors. So now, the health centre has three fulltime medical doctors,” she said.

She also confirmed that, she lobbied for maternity delivery kits to help mothers during the delivery processes, stating that as a Member of Parliament, who doubles as a Health Committee and HIV/AIDS committee member, will make sure that all medical services are available to improve the health of the people of Uganda, particularly those in her area.
