President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has made a massive donation amounting to Shs650 million to support various initiatives aimed at boosting wealth creation in Nakawa Division.
While touring Nakawa Division on Saturday, July 19, as part of his wealth creation and Parish Development Model (PDM) assessment tour across Greater Kampala, President Museveni also announced financial support worth over Shs650 million to various groups and individuals within the area to boost grassroots economic activity.

Accompanied by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, the President visited several projects implemented under PDM and other government-backed initiatives.
In Itek Village, Kyambogo Parish, President Museveni toured the poultry project of Ms. Mbabazi Lillian, a beneficiary of the PDM who used Shs1 million in 2023 to kickstart her enterprise. Impressed by her progress, the President donated Shs10 million to expand her business and pledged to buy her two acres of land, noting that she was currently farming on borrowed university land.

Ten other PDM beneficiaries present at the event each received Shs1 million, and the village LCI Chairperson was handed Shs12 million to facilitate mobility and village mobilization.
President Museveni also made a stop at Mutungo-Mbuya 1 Tailoring SACCO, where he donated Shs100 million to strengthen the cooperative’s operations. In addition, Shs24 million was shared between the area LCI Chairperson and the NRM village party leader to purchase motorcycles for community engagement and monitoring of government programs.
Later, while presiding over a meeting of Greater Kampala leaders at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Museveni congratulated the newly elected NRM parliamentary flag bearers, particularly the young leaders. He urged them to adopt diagnostic and practical approaches to leadership.
“Leadership is like medicine. You must first diagnose the problem before prescribing the right solution,” the President advised.
During the MUBS meeting, President Museveni announced additional donations including Shs300 million to Muslim community groups and Shs200 million to support the MUBS Staff SACCO.
He emphasized five strategic priorities for all leaders to focus on: peace and security, infrastructure development, wealth creation, job creation, and market access.
“Stop getting distracted by petty debates. Focus on the things that will transform people’s lives,” he said.
President Museveni’s ongoing tour of the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area is part of a broader campaign to accelerate the implementation of the Parish Development Model and other wealth creation programs intended to uplift livelihoods, particularly among urban poor communities.
