President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has given a local farmer in Kanungu district the sum of Shs 10 million to boost his piggery project.
Ayesiga a PDM beneficiary in Nyamirama town council, Kanungu district who started a Parish Development Model Restaurant using the Shs1Million.
Kenneth Ayesiga, a resident of Kizindiro Cell, Nyamirama town council, Kinkizi West County in Kanungu district, benefited from the Parish Development Model and used the money to open a restaurant named Parish Develop Model Restaurant in Nyamirama town.
On Thursday, 13th February 2025, President Museveni visited Ayesiga’s piggery farm of 20 pigs, which he started using the profit made from the Parish Development Model Restaurant.
Ayesiga’s story is unique, and it reflects the success of the PDM program in major parts of the country.
Currently Ayesiga operates two different businesses, including the PDM restaurant and the Piggery project, a decision that has continued to massively earn him money daily.
Ayesiga is the third model farmer who have received financial support during President Museveni’s tour of the Kigezi subregion to assess the implementation of PDM and other wealth creation activities.
President Museveni applauded Ayesiga for being creative and determined to create wealth using government support.
Describing Ayesiga as a true cadre and a strong force promoting wealth creation, the president said many Ugandans should adopt simple strategies to join the money economy.
While addressing the Kigezi leaders meeting at Rukungiri Municipal Grounds, encouraged them to mobilize locals to embrace hard work while being supported by government wealth creation programs to eradicate poverty.
He cautioned them against sectarianism, tribalism, and what he termed ideological mistakes.
During the same meeting, leaders of the Kigezi subregion, led by the Security Minister Gen. (RTD) Jim Muhwezi, endorsed President Museveni as the NRM’s sole presidential candidate in the 2026 election.
