President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign rally in Nebbi District, scheduled for tomorrow, has sparked renewed political and economic optimism in West Nile as the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) seeks to consolidate its support in the sub-region ahead of the 2026 general elections.

According to local leaders, all preparations have been finalized. The NRM’s Nebbi Campaign Task Force, led by State Minister for Mineral Development Phiona Nyamutoro, says the rally will not only be a political event but also a symbolic moment of appreciation between the President and the people of Nebbi.

“He’s not coming to ask for votes, he’s coming to say thank you,Nebbi has always stood with him, and tomorrow we will reaffirm that loyalty” said Nyamutoro, who also serves as the NRM flag bearer for Nebbi Woman MP.

The rally comes as the NRM government highlights a series of development achievements in Nebbi, including the commissioning of the Nebbi Substation linking West Nile to the national grid, plans to upgrade the Nebbi–Goli Road, and a proposed industrial park in Omvoro Village.

Nyamutoro argues that such projects reflect the district’s growing economic relevance after years of lagging behind neighboring areas. She also revealed new mineral discoveries, signaling future investment potential.

However, beyond the celebration, analysts say Museveni’s visit underscores a strategic recalibration of NRM’s political engagement in West Nile, where opposition support has been slowly gaining ground in recent years. The rally is therefore seen as both a show of gratitude and a reaffirmation of dominance.

Padyere County MP Isaac Otimgiu said Nebbi is poised to set a “new record in political mobilization,” emphasizing the role of local structures such as youth and women’s leagues under the Parish Development Model.

“People are attending out of conviction, not facilitation. That shows real enthusiasm for the President’s leadership,” Otimgiu noted.

As Museveni heads to West Nile, his message is expected to blend gratitude with policy continuity reinforcing the NRM’s long-term narrative of stability and steady progress. For Nebbi, the visit represents both recognition of its loyalty and a reminder that its political relevance within the NRM remains firmly intact.
