The defending champions Manchester City will play newly promoted Burnley tonight as Premier League action returns for another anticipated season full of flair and talent.

City are the defending champions and have been the dominant force in the English football for the past few years. They have won the Premier League four times in the past five seasons, and they will be looking to make it five in a row this season.

City managed by Pep Guardiola, one of the best coaches in the world has a very strong squad, with players like Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, and Erling Haaland.

City are favorites to win the game, but they will need to be at their best to overcome a determined newly promoted Burnley side.

However, Burnley are back in the Premier League after a one-year absence, and were relegated in 2022, but have bounced back in style, winning promotion as champions of the Championship.

Burnley is currently managed by the former Man City skipper Vincent Kompany who is a physical and direct team, and they will be looking to cause City problems with their set-pieces.

In their last outing, Man City beat Burnley 6-0 in a goal-thrilling FA Cup encounter and in the last 20 meetings, Man City has won 16 times and drawn thrice as Burnley has only won once.

During a pre-match press conference, Kompany said that Manchester City is a more talented side and the Monday night game will be a tough one.

“Playing City is the toughest challenge anyone can have, and we all know it won’t be an easy task,” Kompany added.

Man City won a treble last season after bagging the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and premier league and are looking forward to another fruitful season as they are the favorites who are most likely to finish in the top four.
