Manchester City Football Club has announced the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Khaled Mohamed Abd Elsala Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The transfer, valued at $73 million, marks Marmoush as the first Egyptian player to don the Manchester City jersey, taking on the iconic number 7 shirt with a contract extending until 2029.
According to the official club statement, the 25-year-old Egyptian striker has completed a move to the Etihad Stadium on a four-and-a-half-year deal until June 2029 with no further option for extension.
“Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old Egyptian striker has completed a move to the Etihad Stadium on a four-and-a-half-year deal, meaning he will remain at the club until the summer of 2029,” the statement said.
After signing his contract, Marmoush revealed to the press that his childhood dream to play in the Premier League had come true and promised to showcase to the world the potential talents from Egypt.
“The Premier League is for us in Egypt. This is the biggest league and the most followed league because of my teammates that have played and are still playing from here. This is a day I will never forget; it’s an amazing feeling,” Marmoush said.
City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, described Marmoush as an “accomplished and exciting forward” who has the potential to become one of the best players in the world.
“He has all the attributes a top-class attacker requires. He has outstanding pace and awareness, and he is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play a number of different positions, which is a really valuable asset,” Begiristain said.
Marmoush is City’s third signing of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.
This signing not only boosts Manchester City’s attacking options but also brings an element of flair and international diversity to the team, with Marmoush’s skills expected to complement the existing talents like Erling Haaland in the squad’s forward line.
