Police in Lyatonde have arrested a 50-year-old female over the death of her housemaid in Kinoka sub-county, Lyatonde district.
The deceased has been identified as Juliet Nakimuli Nabisawa, a 21-year-old resident of Kasenene village in Lyantonde who was working in Esther Kanshenshe’s home as a housemaid.
According to the Greater Masaka Police Spokesperson, Twaha Kasirye, Kanshenshe was arrested on March 16, 2024, to aid in the investigations of her maid’s mysterious death after Nabisawa’s body was found in the dam by residents who had gone to fetch water in Kamusenene village, Lyantonde district.
“Police were notified about a dead body in the dam. It was retrieved, and Kanshenshe was arrested because she might know something about Nabisawa’s death despite her denying it,’’ Kasirye revealed.
However, Kanshenshe claims that she had gone for a meeting at Kamusenene Primary School, and on coming back, she did not find the deceased at home, which forced her to ask another person she stays with, identified as Rwitabikana, about her maid’s whereabouts, but no clear explanation was given.
Kasirye said that Kanshenshe and the deceased are both residents of Kamusenene village in Kinoka sub-county in Lyatonde district hence the reason why some residents and her parents have been asked for statements to aid in the investigations.
