Luwero Accident Claims Four Lives, Multiple Others Injured in Ngora-Palisa Crash

An accident on the Kampala-Gulu Highway has claimed the lives of four people, and six others have sustained fatal injuries.

The accident happened at Nakazzi Village in Luwero Town Council on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at around 4 a.m.

The incident involved a Toyota Hiace taxi with registration number UBG 392L and an unidentified truck.

According to Sam Twineamazima, the Savannah regional police spokesperson, the deceased include the driver, only identified as Tata Moses, a resident of Wobulenzi Town Council, and three others who are yet to be confirmed.

“It is alleged that a yet-to-be-identified truck coming from Kampala slightly struck a UBG 392L Toyota Hiace, coming from Kampala, killing four people on the spot and injuring six other passengers,” Twineamazima stated.

The injured passengers were rushed to Luwero General Hospital for medical treatment, while the deceased were conveyed to the hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

In a separate incident, a Lira-bound bus with registration number UAN 392J crashed into a house after the driver lost control while attempting to navigate a sharp turn at the Ngora-Palisa junction on September 4, 2024.

Several individuals were injured and have been taken to local health facilities.

These incidents add to several other accidents in the country, which has raised concerns about the alarming trend of road accidents in Uganda.
