Lira City Council Honors Fallen Town Clerk Tibihika

Lira City Council has paid tribute to the fallen town clerk, Theophilus Tibihika, describing him as a dedicated servant who performed his roles excellently.

Tibihika perished in a fatal motor vehicle accident along the Lira-Apac Highway on Monday, May 27, 2024, when the vehicle he was driving lost control and overturned several times.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Lira City Council held an emergency meeting chaired by deputy Speaker Shakira. During the meeting, various leaders eulogized Tibihika and applauded his exceptional work ethics and commitment to serving the community.

The Lira City Mayor, Sam Atul, said that the executive committee, which he heads, will consider naming a road and other public facilities after the late Tibihika in his honor and remembrance of the deceased’s contribution during the time he served as the Lira City Town Clerk.

Bosco Ogwal, the Chairperson of the General Purpose Committee at Lira City Council, said that the late Tibihika was a God-sent civil servant to serve as the Town Clerk of Lira.

He said that the deceased was loved across political divides for his professional services to the city.

Tibihika met his death on Monday, May 27, 2024, around 6:30 a.m. when his Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup, registration number UAM 450V, overturned along the Lira-Apac road in Akalo, Kole district.

He was reportedly on his way to Kampala through the Masindi Port Ferry.

Tibihika joined Lira City Council as the town clerk in June 2022, from Fort Portal city.
