The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that the final and latest registration for the Four Examinations will attract a surcharge of 100% of the original fare.

This development was confirmed in a statement by UNEB on Monday, July 29, 2024.

The Four Examinations include the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Examination (UCE—New Curriculum), UCE—Transitional Examination (Old Curriculum), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

According to the Executive Director of UNEB, Dan N. Odongo, the latest and final registration phase for this year’s Four Examinations will end on July 31, 2024, and there will be no more registration of candidates for 2024.

“This final and latest phase of registration attracts a surcharge of 100% of the original UGX 34,000 for PLE, UGX 164,000 for UCE, both transitional and new curriculum, and UGX 186,000 for UACE,” he stated.

He added that the UCE learners’ assessments conducted by UNEB using the old curriculum will end this year.

“The board has therefore given a chance to those who qualify to register for a one-off examination, the transitional examination, based on the old curriculum,” he said.

Odongo further urged people intending to run for political offices but lacking UCE certificates to register now for the transitional examination.

Additionally, he stated that the transitional examination will be conducted concurrently with the other UCE examination in October/November 2024.

The UNEB stated that registration can be done from the private home accredited by UNEB to register candidates in different parts of the country or other UNEB centers, including USE schools.

Registration for the 4Es—the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Examination (UCE—New Curriculum), UCE—Transitional Examination (Old Curriculum), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE)—started in March 2024.
