Julian Tumusiime, Secretary in the Health Department of Kyankwanzi District, has been arraigned before the Kyankwanzi Magistrate’s Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretenses and using threats to extort money from her victims.

The case was confirmed today on July 17, 2025, by the State House Anti- Corruption Unit (SHACU), in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

According to the statement, Julian allegedly defrauded a job seeker aspiring to become a nurse within the Kyankwanzi Local Government by promising to secure him a job in exchange for UGX 5 million.

“Investigations have revealed that Julian and other accomplices, who remain at large, have been involved in extorting money from several job seekers in the district under similar false promises,” the statement stated.

Residents have been cautioned to remain vigilant and report any suspicious job offers, especially those involving upfront payments.

Julian was remanded to prison custody until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, as investigations continue.

This case highlights ongoing challenges in Kyankwanzi related to corruption and exploitation of vulnerable job seekers by officials abusing their positions of trust. It also reflects the district’s renewed commitment to combating job-related scams, holding perpetrators accountable, and restoring public confidence in the recruitment process.
