The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control under the Ministry of Internal Affairs has temporarily shut down services at the passport collection office in Kyambogo due to a breakdown.

This was revealed in the ministry’s statement issued on Monday, October 30, 2023.

According to Simon Peter Mundeyi, the Public Relations Officer at the ministry, the system has been negatively impacted by a damaged fiber optic line.

“Due to a damaged fiber optic cable that has adversely affected the system, we are unable to issue passports at our Passport issuance office in Kyambogo (former Face Technologies). We are working around the clock with the relevant agencies to ensure restoration of normal service at the earliest,” Mundeyi said.

Mundeyi noted that, all applicants who are waiting to pick up their passports are urged to wait until restoration, as communication would be sent in due course.

On December 9, 2021, Kyambogo Passport Collection and Issuance Centre was temporarily shut down due to a danger fiber cable in Nakawa.
