National Unity Platform (NUP) party President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has called upon all his supporters to remain peaceful, calm and desist from acts of violence ahead of his upcoming Eastern Region tour.

Kyagulanyi made the remarks while speaking to supporters in Kabale town on Thursday afternoon, August 31, 2023, while concluding his western tour.

“We are aware of government plans to plant wrong characters in our crowds so that they paint us to be violent and goons who go on looting, grabbing phones and vandalizing property. We warn that if people get such characters in our crowds, we shall not tolerate such,” Kyagulanyi noted.

Kyagulanyi also cautioned the security forces not to disrupt his supporters but should rather provide them with security.

“If the police remains calm, we shall also remain peaceful, if they try to disrupt us, then they will see people power,” Kyagulanyi added.

The warning came after Police in Kabale town denied NUP supporters from accessing Kabale Primary School play grounds and had blocked the public address system vehicle from joining the crowds, prompting Kyagulanyi to address the crowds from Nyerere Avenue Street.

Kyagulanyi who has completed his western region tour that started with Mbarara City on Monday, August 28, 2023, went to Fort Portal on Tuesday, visited Kasese on Wednesday and wrapped up the tour on Thursday with Kabale.

The National Unity Platform President is doing a countrywide tour where he is opening up district offices and holding rallies to have a talk with his supporters.

Kyagulanyi and his top leadership will resume the tour next week as they head to Mayuge, Busia, Mbale, Soroti, Lira, Gulu, Luwero and Arua.
