Kyankwanzi, Uganda — The National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has urged residents of Kyankwanzi District to unite as Ugandans and work together for development.
Speaking at a rally on October 8, 2025, Kyagulanyi called on locals to reject tribal divisions and instead focus on building a better and more equal country.
He said Uganda’s strength lies in its diversity and that citizens should not allow politicians to divide them along ethnic lines.
Kyagulanyi also promised that if elected president, his government would improve health services in Kyankwanzi by establishing a fully equipped district hospital.
He noted that the district currently has only two Health Centre IVs, which he alleged do not operate at night or on weekends, forcing residents to travel to Kiboga or Hoima for major treatment.
“When NUP takes power, we shall make sure Kyankwanzi has a modern hospital that serves everyone,” Kyagulanyi told supporters.
The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, who accompanied him, urged the people of Kyankwanzi to use their vote to bring political change.
Ssenyonyi said Kyankwanzi has historically been central to political decisions that extended President Yoweri Museveni’s stay in power, and that residents now have a chance to “undo” that history.
Kyagulanyi’s visit to Kyankwanzi is part of his wider campaign tour across Buganda region. He is expected to hold rallies in Kiboga, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola, before heading to Eastern Uganda next week, covering Budaka, Tororo, Butaleja, Manafwa, Busia, Butebo, Kibuku, and Namisindwa districts.
