Kyagulanyi Demands for the immediate Release of Kidnapped NUP Supporters at Kibalama’s wife Burial

“We continue to demand the release of John Bosco Kibalama and 17 other NUP supporters who were kidnapped in June 2019. The Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanjja, publicly admitted that Kibalama was in police custody over allegations of assaulting security officers. We now demand that the government produces Kibalama and the other 17 supporters who remain missing,” Kyagulanyi stated.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party president, Robert Kyagulanyi, has renewed his call for the government to account for party supporters who were kidnapped and remain missing, including John Bosco Kibalama, who has been unaccounted for since 2019.

Kyagulanyi made the remarks on 6th November, 2025 while attending the burial of Monica Nabukera Kibalama, wife of John Bosco Kibalama, in Biharwe, Mbarara.

“We continue to demand the release of John Bosco Kibalama and 17 other NUP supporters who were kidnapped in June 2019. The Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, publicly admitted that Kibalama was in police custody over allegations of assaulting security officers. We now demand that the government produces Kibalama and the other 17 supporters who remain missing,” Kyagulanyi stated.

The NUP party presidential candidate also called for unity among Ugandans, urging people not to blame the Banyankore community for the actions of President Museveni and close officials.

“When Amin left power, many Nubians went into exile; the same happened with the Langis after Obote left. We do not want the same to happen to the Banyankore after President Museveni leaves office. These are actions of one person and should not implicate the entire region,” he added.

Kyagulanyi is scheduled to continue his campaign trail, visiting Isingiro today, 6th November, followed by Mbarara District and Mbarara City on Friday, 7th November, and concluding his weekly campaign in Rwampara and Ntungamo on Saturday, 8th November, 2025.
