The National Unity Platform (NUP) party President, Robert Kyagulanyi, has warned the supporters to adhere to the road safety rules as he resumed the nationwide tour with a visit to Kamuli district in the eastern region.

While addressing his foot soldiers and NUP supporters at the party headquarters at Makerere-Kavule on November 7, 2024, just before setting off for Kamuli, Kyagulanyi cautioned against being indisciplined, asking them not to disrupt traffic.

“We are going to Kamuli, and as we set off now, I caution all motorists and all supporters to remain disciplined so that the police doesn’t get an excuse to disrupt us,” he said.

He further called upon supporters not to engage in any altercations with security forces and other stake holders.

“I kindly request you not to engage with security forces in any exchange; in case of any issue, let our leaders be the ones to engage with police,” Kyagulanyi added.

One of the party supporters, identified as Halim Mubiru, said that as supporters, they always try their best to remain calm, and it’s the security forces that always incite violence.

“Everytime you see a confrontation, just know it’s the police that has started it; we are always peaceful until the police is involved,” Mubiru said.
