Police in Kumi district have in custody a 13-year-old primary five pupil of Auruku Ominai Primary School for allegedly killing a classmate while playing.

ASP Edison Obukulem, the East Kyoga regional police spokesman, has identified the suspect as Ivan Etiang and the deceased as Jane Titin, 14, all residents of Nyero, Ogoma Sub County, in Kumi district.

He said the suspect allegedly punched the deceased while playing in class, and she reportedly collapsed. She was then rushed to Nyero Health Center and was pronounced dead on arrival.

ASP Obukulem said that upon receiving the sudden death of their daughter, the relatives of the deceased reportedly waged an attack on the family of the suspect.

The police have cautioned members of the public to always desist from taking the law into their own hands.
