The Diocese of Kinkiizi has strongly denied what it describes as, ‘false and inflammatory’ allegations made by Rev Justus Tibesigwa, an LC5 Chairman aspirant for Kanungu District.
In a statement issued on July 23, 2025, the Diocesan Secretary and official spokesperson of the Diocese Rev Canon Gad Tibeijuka, dismissed the accusations, and accused Rev Tibesigwa of deliberately spreading falsehoods for political gain.
Rev Tibeijuka claimed that Rev Tibesigwa had stage-managed his own arrest in a calculated attempt to gain public sympathy, adding that such conduct is inconsistent with how the Church resolves matters.
He urged Christians and the general public to distance themselves from what he called deceitful narratives and instead uphold peace, unity, and truth.
“As we approach Election Day this Thursday, I appeal to every citizen to exercise their civic duty with prayerful discernment. Do not be swayed by religious bias, tribal emotions, or personal vendettas,” he said.
“Ask yourself: Can someone who struggled to serve the Church with humility, and whose actions raised serious concerns about trust and accountability, be entrusted with a public office that requires integrity and visionary leadership?” Rev Tibeijuka added.
Efforts to reach Rev Tibesigwa for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to repeated phone calls.
