The government of Uganda has sent shs1 million each to over 88,000 households in the Kigezi sub region under the Parish Development Model (PDM) program since its inception.

Dr. Ssozi Galabuzi, the head of the PDM secretariat, while presenting a report during the Kigezi sub-regional leaders meeting at Rukungiri Municipal Grounds on Thursday, February 13th, 2025, said the government intends to increase the number of beneficiaries in the subsequent financial year.

He said the government has also suspended the bank charges, noting that each beneficiary should now be able to receive Shs1 million net without being deducted.

According to Dr. Ssozi, anyone who deducts part of the Shs 1 million meant to be given to a PDM beneficiary will be arrested and charged with fraud.

He said the decision to suspend charges and deductions on PDM given to the beneficiary stemmed from a directive of President Museveni.

While in the Teso sub region in late 2024 during the PDM assessment tour, President Museveni ordered that no deduction should be made on the Shs 1 million for the beneficiary.

President Museveni is in the Kigezi sub region to assess the implementation of PDM activities.
