President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday, 12th February 2025, extended huge financial support to model farmers supported by the government to establish their farms in the Kigezi sub region.

Museveni started his five-day PDM assessment tour of the region on Wednesday, where he toured the dairy farm of Angelo Nsereko, a farmer with five dairy farms in Ruhare village, Ruhare Parish, Chachi Sub County, and Kisoro district.
The president supported Nsereko with Shs 12 million and a tractor to boost his initiatives. Nsereko was supported with a heifer by the government through Operation Wealth Creation in 2016.
Museveni later in the day toured the poultry farm of Evas Akampulira, a resident of Bubare Trading Centre in Rubanda District, where he supported her with Shs 23 million to acquire a hatchery machine and expand her poultry project.
Akampulira was supported by the government through PDM with Shs 1 million in 2023. She has now been able to establish a reliable source of livelihoods for the family.
In his message, the president emphasizes strategic wealth creation practices by every household in order to achieve productivity that can earn them money.
According to President Museveni, with the current peace in Uganda, there isn’t a reason for anyone to remain poor, and he noted that the government will continue supporting several agricultural initiatives.
He also gave Shs10 million to 10 PDM beneficiaries in Rubanda district who had turned up at the home of Akampulira during his visit.
On Thursday, 13th February 2025, President Museveni is expected to tour a model farm of a PDM beneficiary, Kenneth Ayesiga, who has 20 pigs.
Ayesiga, a resident of Kizindiro Cell, Nyamirama town council in Kangungu district, received PDM money in 2023 and ventured into pig rearing.
The President will also launch the NRM Nyekundire Development Group at Kanungu District Headquarters and will also preside over the Kigezi sub-regional leaders meeting in Rukungiri district.
